CALM
CALM is a 2016 Sanlorenzo SL96, one of the Italian yard's best-known series, and she stands apart from her sisters in two ways. Her interior, by Francesco Paszkowski, feels warmer and more contemporary than most yachts of this size, and her layout makes careful, clever use of every metre. At 29.1m, with a 6.75m beam and 104 GT, she sits in the closely fought 30-metre class.
Nine guests sleep in four cabins. The master suite is on the main deck, where the bed faces forward rather than sideways. That is not the usual arrangement on an SL96, and it makes the room feel more open and better balanced. There is plenty of storage and a well-finished en suite bathroom. Below, a full-beam VIP cabin sits forward, with a double and a twin cabin alongside, a practical set-up for a family or a group of friends.
The main deck saloon is built to adapt. A sofa faces a formal dining table that folds in half when more floor space is wanted. Crew move between the pantry and the pilothouse along a discreet passage on the starboard side, while the master suite is reached from the port side, so service and privacy never cross.
Outside, the flybridge is the social heart of the yacht. It can be reached from the aft deck or from the pilothouse, sits under a hard top with extra sunshades, and carries a bar, a grill, a dining table and a large sofa. The aft deck and the foredeck add more room for lounging in the sun.
Up to four crew live in two cabins on the lower deck, reached through a starboard entrance on the main deck that opens onto the pantry, galley and crew mess. Twin MTU engines give a 25-knot cruising speed and a top speed of 28 knots. Classed by RINA and flagged in Malta, she works equally well as a private yacht or in commercial operation.

FROM THE ARNO TO THE STOCK EXCHANGE
Founded near Florence in 1958, now a listed group building from 24 to 74 metres.
In 1958 Gianfranco Cecchi and Giuliano Pecchia founded Sanlorenzo at Limite sull'Arno, near Florence. Giovanni Jannetti later took over the company and opened in Viareggio. The yard launched its first fibreglass yacht, the SL57, in 1985, and in 1999 moved its operations to Ameglia, in the province of La Spezia.
In 2005 Massimo Perotti bought the majority shareholding from Jannetti and renamed the company Sanlorenzo S.p.A. Its superyacht yard in La Spezia opened in 2016. Shares began trading on the Italian stock exchange on 10 December 2019 at €16 a share. Sanlorenzo is listed on the Euronext STAR Milan segment, and it bought Nautor Swan in August 2024.
Production runs across four main shipyards, at La Spezia, Ameglia, Viareggio and Massa. Composite yachts run from 24 to 41 metres, aluminium and steel superyachts from 44 to 74 metres. In 2025 its net revenues from new yachts were €960.4 million. Milestones include the 64-metre 64Steel flagship, launched in 2019, and the 50Steel of 2024, the yard's first superyacht with a green-methanol system. The architect Piero Lissoni is the yard's art director.

THE ARCHITECT'S EYE
An architect by training, designing yachts inside and out since 1990.
Francesco Paszkowski trained in architecture. In 1990 his Florence studio began producing custom exteriors and interiors for yacht builders. Born in 1963, he is known for his long-running work with Baglietto, and he has also designed for Heesen, ISA Yachts, Tankoa Yachts and CRN. For CRN he drew the exterior lines of the 61.3-metre Saramour, delivered in 2014. At Custom Line he designed the exterior of the 42.61-metre Lady Dia (2024), where his studio also designed the interior with Margherita Casprini. Calm shows the studio working inside and out. She is a 29.1-metre Sanlorenzo SL96 delivered in 2016, and both her exterior and her interior are by Francesco Paszkowski.
