ESMERALDA is a 62m motor yacht from the Italian yard Codecasa, delivered in 1981 and refitted in 2001. She is a classic of her era, with long, enduring lines, fine Italian workmanship and the open-sea performance of a proper ocean-going build.
She is built with a steel hull under an aluminium superstructure. Two MAK engines, each rated at 1,500 hp, give her a cruising speed of 12 knots and a top speed of 14, and her range is 6,000 nautical miles, so long passages are comfortably within reach. Stabilisers reduce roll when she is underway. Three Volvo generators supply power on board, her draft is 4.8m, and she is classed by RINA and flagged in the Bahamas.
Volume is what sets her apart. At 1,002 GT on a 10m beam, she offers living space that very few yachts of her length can match. Like her exterior, her interior design comes from the yard itself: Ugo Codecasa drew up the accommodation, with a main saloon and dining areas sized for large gatherings, and eleven staterooms, four doubles and seven twins, which give owners unusual flexibility in how they host family and friends.
Interior
Outside, her decks are spread over several levels, and guests move easily from one to the next. The open areas can be set up for sunbathing, for entertaining, or for carrying a full set of tenders and water toys.
The result is a yacht in superb technical condition, ready to hand over to her next owner. For a buyer who wants a high-volume yacht with charter potential, she is a rare opportunity.

TWO CENTURIES IN VIAREGGIO
A Viareggio family of shipwrights, 200 years on and still run by Codecasas.
In 1825 Giovanni Battista Codecasa, born in 1803, began working as a shipwright in Viareggio. The family yard came later. In 1902 Giovan Battista "Tistino" Codecasa, born in 1875, and his father Antonio set up the "Antonio Codecasa e Figli" yard east of the Darsena Lucca to build sailing boats.
In 1946 the business passed to Ugo and Sandro Codecasa. In 1973 Fulvio Codecasa took over from his father Ugo and began building luxury motor yachts. The Nuova Darsena yards in Viareggio were added in 1977 and 1987, part of production moved to the Darsena dei Navicelli in Pisa in 2011, and in 2025 the yard marked 200 years.
The family is still in charge. Fulvio Codecasa runs the yard with his daughters Fulvia and Elena, and Fulvia's three children now work in the business.
Codecasa builds custom displacement motor yachts in steel and light alloy from 30 to 70 metres, plus an all-aluminium line of faster yachts from 35 to 50 metres. Signature builds include Giorgio Armani's 64.9-metre Maìn, delivered in 2008, and the 65.2-metre Double Down, delivered in 2010 and one of the largest yachts the yard has built.
ESMERALDA was built in 1981, eight years after Fulvio Codecasa began building luxury motor yachts. She was refitted in 2001, and her exterior and interior are by Codecasa.
