In November 2025, Italian shipyard Baglietto announced a new partnership with regional brokerage Asiamarine to spearhead its expansion into Asia. Fraser Yachts reported that Asiamarine has been appointed as Baglietto’s central sales agent in the region and will initially focus on Hong Kong, Singapore, Thailand and Indonesia before extending to other markets.
The strategy is designed to align Baglietto’s heritage and semi‑custom models with Asia’s fast‑growing superyacht clientele. The Asia‑Pacific superyacht fleet has been expanding rapidly; 530 superyachts over 30 m were active in the region between January and December 2024, with growth projected to surpass 600 by the end of 2025. Baglietto’s 170‑Year Heritage
Baglietto traces its origins to 1854, when founder Pietro Baglietto began building small craft in a garden in the Ligurian fishing village of Varazze. The yard’s reputation for innovation soon followed: by 1876 it had launched the 7.5 m cutter Rosy, its first racing yacht, and the 1891 launch Miss Mary went on to win regatta championships.
A commission from Pope Leo XIII in 1888 cemented Baglietto’s prestige and helped establish the company as one of Italy’s premier yacht builders. In 1906 the yard introduced the 22 m Giuseppina, at the time the largest private motor yacht in the world, and began developing what is considered the world’s first hydrofoil.
Throughout the 20th century Baglietto continued to blend naval engineering with luxury craftsmanship. Baglietto entered the superyacht era in 1986 with the 46 m Al Fahedi and, under designer Francesco Paszkowski, delivered a series of stylistically bold yachts through the 1990s.
The Gavio Group’s acquisition of the yard in 2012 ushered in a programme of modernisation while preserving Baglietto’s distinctive design DNA. Initiatives such as BZero—a research project that aims to produce hydrogen from seawater for emission‑free propulsion—underscore the company’s commitment to sustainability and innovation. his 170‑year narrative of craftsmanship, technological firsts and global commissions provides important context for Baglietto’s expansion into Asia, where buyers increasingly value both pedigree and cutting‑edge engineering.
